Friends of Ghana’s financial engineer extraordinaire have set up a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, seeking to raise funds to repay the GHC 51.2 million owed the state.
The online appeal which was launched earlier this week has so far received “significant” contributions from Mr. Barton Oduro and Mrs. Mould Iddrisu. A spokesman for the group urged the general pubic to contribute generously towards “a good cause.” He said the group hopes to raise GHC 51,283,480.59 by Woyome’s self-imposed December deadline.
Alfred Woyome had earlier this year promised to have the money refunded to the state by end of the year but insiders admit the financial engineer may not be able to mobilise the GHC 51.2m all by himself. The friends of Alfred Woyome are hopeful that they can reach their target through crowdfunding.
The group intends to attract more contributions with a range of treats for people who pledge their support. A contribution of GHC 100,000 will be rewarded with a year long access to the presidential lounge of the Kotoka International Airport while anything above that will be rewarded with a free pass to the Flagstaff House.
They urged all friends of the beleaguered financial engineer to make their contribution via the link below:
