The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) have both called for a 0% increase in the efficient delivery of services for the rest of the year.
The proposal was announced at a public hearing organised by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to explore how far the two utility companies can partner with government to continue extorting money from helpless Ghanaian customers.
A spokesman for the two utility companies explained that the 0% increase in efficiency means funds for the improvement of equipment and machinery can be re-channelled into the pockets of the directors of both companies. He added that increased revenue from the 100% hikes in tariffs can now be used to “import new four-wheel drives for the companies’ top management.”
PURC assured the utility companies of its “commitment to rubber stamp every extortionate proposal aimed at making life more and more unbearable for the average Ghanaian.”
