As cupid prepares to shoot his arrow this Valentine’s Day, ECG is also set to push that ‘OFF’ button to make the romantic celebrations a memorable one.
The Electricity Company of Ghana has launched a special Val’s Day programme dubbed “Romantic Dinner in the Dark Day.” ECG will schedule a 12 hour nationwide power outage aimed at encouraging couples to have low-budget candlelit dinners in the comfort of their homes. “With Ghanaians feeling the economic pitch, many couples have opted for a romantic dinner at home this Vals’s Day and this programme is aimed at helping such couples create the dark romantic atmosphere within their homes,” explained the head ECG’s Dumsor Department.
The 12 hour nationwide blackout will start from 1800 February 14 and end at 0600 February 15. As part of this programme, ECG will also give away free candles through its offices across the country.
The head of the Dumsor Department also encouraged singletons not to despair during this period of open display of love. “Love is like dumsor, you don’t go looking for it, it just finds you,” he remarked.
