A gambler in his early 30s has reportedly placed GHC 195, 700 on the embattled Director of the National Service Secretariate (NSS) to be reassigned as one of the many presidential staffers.
The bookmakers Safaribet confirmed that the punter placed the bet earlier last week when the Daily Graphic broke the news of the alleged attempt by the Director of NSS, Alhaji Imoro Alhassan and several other regional directors to bribe investigators to conceal evidence of the shocking level of financial malfeasance at the secretariat.
The punter who wishes to remain anonymous said he placed the bet after careful consideration of how presidential staffers are appointed. “I usually bet on football games but when I saw the odds for this, it looked like a safe bet. It’s as safe a bet as Manchester United finishing outside the top 4 this season. A big man embroiled in a corruption scandal? He’ll certainly be reassigned to take up some position at the president’s office, it’s a no brainer. That’s where they all end up, e no be so?”
The punter got odds of 1/3 when he placed the bet last week, putting him in line for a profit of GHC 65,2333. Following a sudden rush to place bets on this NSS scandal, Safaribet has since cut the odds to 1/6. The bookies however confirmed they are still taking bets on which government institution or project will be the next to be embroiled in a corruption scandal. They have the President’s YES initiative as the odds on favourite.
