FIFA confirms ECG as the “Official Disruptor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup”

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reportedly agreed a deal with FIFA to become one of the big-name sponsors of the 2014 World Cup which kicks off in Brazil later today.

The sponsorship deal which is believed to be worth several millions of dollars confirms The Electricity Company of Ghana as the “Official Disruptor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.” This will give ECG the sole right to disrupt the viewing of the games with unscheduled power cuts throughout Ghana.

The deal, according to branding experts, signals ECG’s intentions to cement its place as the nation’s most loved and cherished corporate body. A print advertising campaign has also been launched by ECG as part of this World Cup deal. The campaign, named ‘Suddenly’ features Asamoah Gyan, Didier Drogba, Franck Ribéry and Cristiano Ronaldo as its main players. It shows billboard-size images of these four players in a scenario during a World Cup match but each of them appears frozen just before a decisive strike. The frozen moment depicts that unforgettable moment when ECG proudly disrupts the viewing of a match by switching off your power supply.

YesiYesi Ghana brings you exclusive copies of the ‘Suddenly’ posters.

In spite of all this, Ghanaians remain upbeat and are of the view that ECG can turn off their power supply but they cannot turn off their believe in the Black Stars.
