The managers of the defunct Ghana Airways have come up with a brilliant idea to put the DC-10 to good use after a deal to sell the plane to the scrap metal dealers of Kumasi Magazine fell through.
The defunct national carrier has been converted into a plush fully air-conditioned restaurant, with separate washrooms for male and female, something the erstwhile Ghana Airways could not boast of. Speaking to YesiYesi, Ms Shriyan, Director of Vindira Company Limited, operators of La Tante DC 10 restaurant, highlighted many more reasons why this new restaurant is a better Ghanaian icon than Ghana Airways. She said the new restaurant has a well-stocked bar that provide a wide variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to satisfy the tastes of different customers and the food menu reflects a typical African cuisine, in addition to a variety of continental dishes. It also has a high level security put in place to effectively manage the risks of theft and unauthorized access to the facility. Fire safety systems have been installed to control the risk of any fire-outbreak on the premises. All these the defunct Ghana Airways could not offer.
The best thing about the refurbished DC 10 is that you do not need a visa to get onboard. So for all my people that have been denied the opportunity to sit in a plane- not some Antrak trotro- by those wicked people at the UK and US embassies, this our chance. Ahh boys abr3 so just get onboard but unfortunately the only thing that will be flying is the cedi notes out of your wallet.
