Kwesi Appiah’s on-pitch performances for Cambridge United down in English football’s fourth tier may have earned him a place in the Black Stars squad but his off-pitch dance performances seems to have put him out of step with Africa’s football governing body.
According to reports, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has asked Black Stars’ new boy, Kwesi Appiah, to strip naked to prove he is a man.
An official of CAF explained that a video which recently emerged online showing the striker performing “gyrating dance moves that will make both Rihanna and Miley Cyrus jealous,” has sparked rumours that the Ghanaian may be a woman. “Appiah can certainly gyrate and dip it low in ways which raises several questions and CAF is determined to get to the bottom of this matter.”
He confirmed that CAF will not use a medical gender test but will rather employ the same crude method it recently used in the case of a female player from Equatorial Guinea. Genoveva Anonma, Africa’s female Footballer of the Year in 2012 was forced by CAF officials to strip naked to prove she was a woman following accusations by opponents that she was too fast and too strong to be a woman.
However, reports from the Black Stars camp indicate that the Crystal Palace loanee will resist CAF’s crude and humiliating gender test.
One Black Stars’ fan noted that the crude gender test is a reflection of the current state of CAF. “It is an organisation run by dinosaurs and their archaic thinking is clear for all to see.”
