The CEOs of all state owned enterprises including the heads of Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Revenue Authority, will receive 100 pigs as part of their vomit-inducing pay packages.
Each government appointed CEO will take home 100 pigs plus a monthly salary which ranges between GHC52,000 and GHC88,000 as well as a host of other freebies: free accommodation, free electricity, free water, free phone, a
slave house help, a garden boy, a watchman, a wife/husband, 2 vehicles – 1 sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a salon car, a driver, free fuel and a gold watch.
The CEOs who collectively earn more in a month than an ordinary Ghanaian will earn in a lifetime, insist that despite the poor state of the economy, they were in no doubt that they “deserved their elephant-sized pay packages.”
The news has been welcomed by a large majority of ordinary Ghanaian workers. A cocoa farmer from the Eastern region said “pigs are the perfect addition to their pay package; any state official who receives anything close to GHC70,000 in such trying times has more in common with pigs than the ordinary Ghanaian.”
