At a cost of GHC 1000, aimless Ghanaians who have nothing better to do next Tuesday morning can watch and cheer Bisham Obinim as he takes on Okomfo Appiah in a comedy showdown at the Kumasi Jubilee Park.
Obinim who is known for his miracle working karate kicks said the comedy show, which was called off for the second time yesterday due to a no-show by his opponent has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 19 at 0900 GMT. However, fans will have to purchase tickets to be able to watch the show.
According to Obinim, he was encouraged to turn the showdown into a fee-paying event after hundreds of fans turned up at the Kumasi Jubilee Park to witness the spectacle. “I was very surprised by how many of my pray-for-me and miracle-seeking fans turned up at the Jubilee Park yesterday morning; 9 o’clock on a Tuesday morning when sensible people were hard at work. Well, it seems people want this sort of entertainment so we will give it to them but at a cost,” he explained.
Proceeds from the tickets which go on sale on Friday will go to Obinim and his opponent Okomfo Appiah. Both men are believed to be extremely excited about the addition of ticket sales to their other non-taxable income streams which include selling prayers and miracles.
Obinim hinted of plans to further expand their revenue stream by taking the comedy event to other parts of the country. He noted that there is more money to be made because “there are a lot of people in the country who have more time and money than brains.”
