Voters say they will vote for anyone who pledges to incarcerate elected leaders for failing to fulfil campaign promises.
Proponents of the idea want the ‘one broken promise one Nsawam bed’ pledge included in party manifestos to prevent politicians from doing a u-turn after the December elections. The demand by voters for a guarantee comes amid a fiery start to a campaign season which has been characterised by widespread vote-buying and an ever growing list of unachievable and headline grabbing promises.
One proponent of the ‘one broken promise one Nsawam bed’ argued that “if companies can be held liable for false advertisement then politicians should be held responsible for lying about what they can and cannot do.”
